Historic Value
Beaumont Hotel has a long and unique history in Ouray, Colorado. Built in 1886 at the height of the “Gold Boom,” this lovely old hotel is still known as the ‘Flagship of the San Juans.” Graciously appointed with sumptuous amenities, the Beaumont Hotel has welcomed such famous guests as U.S. Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Herbert Hoover, King Leopold of Belgium, Chipeta, widow of the Ute Chief Ouray, French actress Sarah Bernhardt, American actress Angie Dickenson, media megastar Oprah Winfrey and singer/songwriter Jewel. Recent restorations modernized the entire structure to meet the needs and cares of today’s traveler while preserving the property’s historical grandeur.

Historic Grand Ballroom
The Historic Grand Ballroom offers an elegant and classic setting, perfect for any type of event. Kings, Presidents and many of the rich & famous have dined in this room over the last 125+ years. The Ballroom features magnificent 21-foot ceilings met by hand-painted plaster walls that emanate old-world charm and elegance. The original gothic stained-glass windows open the space to incredible mountain vistas.
Garden Courtyard
Tucked behind the hotel, our secluded courtyard is a lush, intimate space perfect for your ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, or even a night of dancing beneath the stars. Framed by the majestic San Juan Mountains and lit with soft evening glow, it’s an unforgettable backdrop for each part of your celebration—from your vows to your last dance.
Presidential Suite
President Theodore Roosevelt’s favorite room during his stay, this expansive suite is the largest at the Beaumont and comfortably sleeps up to six guests. Original windows frame breathtaking views of Mount Abrahams and Box Canyon to the south, with Twin Peaks and historic Main Street to the west. The grand living area features an original (nonfunctional) stone fireplace, flat-screen TV, queen sleeper sofa, writing desk, dining table, and inviting seating. Guests are often captivated by the ornate wallpaper adorning both the walls and ceiling, along with the beautiful period light fixtures.
The fully stocked kitchenette includes marble countertops, a painted sink, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. The master bedroom offers an antique sleigh-style king bed, while a second adjoining room features an original antique metal queen bed. Each bedroom includes a flat-screen TV and sitting chair, and the bathrooms are appointed with extra-deep combination tub and shower.
Luella’s Lounge
Luella’s Lounge is an intimate, speakeasy-style bar tucked away on the second floor of the historic Beaumont Hotel. With soft lighting, rich textures, and a cozy upscale atmosphere, it’s the perfect hidden retreat for crafted cocktails and quiet conversations. Guests reach the lounge by ascending the grand staircase, turning right, and following the hallway to the end—where this charming escape waits behind an unassuming door.
